Major construction at the Raya Project is complete. This effort removed two old Arizona crossings and restored steelhead access through the property. A single bridge was constructed over the creek. Riparian vegetation will be planted over the next several months to help shade the corridor and keep the water cool and clean.
Before: The Arizona crossing is severely eroded at the downstream end, creating a deep step and waterfall impassable to migrating steelhead trout. The crossing is also unsafe for vehicle access during heavy rainfall.
After: Carpinteria creek flows freely through the property, providing spawning habitat and migratory access. The bridge will allow vehicles to cross in all weather conditions.
